I do the same thing with novels. I can't seem to part with them even though its pretty obvious that I won't re-read them again.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03436658698932425918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094526413515487308.post-60499851998459494582011-09-17T20:41:31.745-04:002011-09-17T20:41:31.745-04:00I was a huge rules junkie also. ...I was a huge rules junkie also. Being in the Navy
for years, buying rules was my way of "being in
the hobby". I have resolved to clean out all
rules that are just placeholders in the boxes.
Yes, in the 80's I wanted the detail oriented
rules. Now, more playability is better.Jim Caseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10838038411353938420noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094526413515487308.post-62942594059588483432011-09-15T17:11:42.818-04:002011-09-15T17:11:42.818-04:00That's a good observation. A friend of mine and I tried to start a wargame club, but we just couldn't generate much interest.Chrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03436658698932425918noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2094526413515487308.post-25985616588187768772011-09-15T13:58:37.231-04:002011-09-15T13:58:37.231-04:00I've often equated my own fascination with buy...I've often equated my own fascination with buying and reading rules for games I'll never play with my wife's similar habits with cookbooks. Even if you don't make the recipe, there's little things--tips, ideas, concepts--that can be ported over to other projects. Plus you never know when you'll want to serve creme brulee.

It's interesting that you specify the solo option for wargaming. That's gotten to be a bigger point of value for me over the last year or two as I weigh how much I enjoy the FLGS scene.WQRobbhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17436898737750581192noreply@blogger.com
